SBL Round 17: Ohod lose to Al Nassr in the game between Top 4 teams

The game between Top Four teams took place in Riyadh. Second ranked host Al Nassr (14-3) defeated 3rd placed Ohod (13-4) 77-73. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Ohod. Americans were the main players on the court. Swingman Brandon Austin (198-1994, college: NW Florida St.) stepped up and scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners and forward Antonio Campbell (206-1994, college: Ohio) chipped in 13 points and 16 rebounds. point guard James Justice (178-1989, college: UT Southern) responded with 29 points and 7 rebounds. Al Nassr have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 14-3 record behind leader Al Ahli. Ohod at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Al Nassr are looking forward to face Al Adalah (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ohod's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Medina to the arena Al Ansar.
SBL top team - Al Ahli (15-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Al Taawoun (3-14) in Jeddah 106-82. American forward Deandre Liggins (198-1988, college: Kentucky) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and Marzouq Almuwallad accounted for 19 points and 9 assists. Al Ahli's coach Ali Alsanhani felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian power forward Aleksandar Marelja (207-1992, agency: BeoBasket) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists for Al Taawoun in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Al Ahli. They maintain first place with 15-1 record. Newly promoted Al Taawoun keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Al Adalah. Al Ahli will play against Deba (#8) in Tabuk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al Taawoun will play at home against Al Salam and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 17: Al Wehda won against Al Salam on the opponent's court 75-69. Al Adalah unfortunately lost to Deba in a home game 70-81. Al Fateh managed to beat Al Ansar on the road 94-79.



Al Salam - Al Wehda 69-75

Rather expected game in Al-Awamiyah where 9th ranked Al Salam (4-13) was defeated by sixth ranked Al Wehda (10-7) 75-69. Al Wehda forced 20 Al Salam turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Point guard Chauncey Collins (183-1995, college: TCU) nailed 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and forward Dewayne Jackson (203-1990, college: Morgan St.) accounted for 12 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. Four Al Wehda players scored in double figures. Center Anthony McClain (211-1988, college: Cincinnati) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 22 rebounds and forward Nick Stover (198-1993, college: USA) added 15 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals respectively for Al Salam in the defeat. Al Wehda maintains sixth place with 10-7 record. Al Salam lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Al Wehda will play against higher ranked Al Hilal (#5) in Riyadh in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Salam will play against Al Taawoun (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Deba (6-10) defeated on the road 11th ranked Al Adalah (3-14) 81-70. Deba dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Al Adalah's 36. They outrebounded Al Adalah 52-37 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ukrainian center Vladyslav Koreniuk (210-1994, agency: BIG) nailed a double-double by scoring 29 points and 20 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Unique McLean (188, college: SFC, agency: Blacktop Management) accounted for 21 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Russian forward Andrey Semenov (200-1990, college: JMU) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds and Tunisian swingman Islem Elajmi (196-1991) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Al Adalah in the defeat. Deba maintains eighth place with 6-10 record. Al Adalah lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Al Taawoun. Deba will play against league's leader Al Ahli in Jeddah in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Adalah will play on the road against the league's second-placed Al Nassr (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.

Algerian forward Mohamed Harat (198-1990) nailed a double-double by scoring 30 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Falando Jones (193-1990, college: MVSU) accounted for 23 points. Al Fateh's coach Amer Al Soubai allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Ken'Darrius Hamilton (206-1996, college: Tennessee St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Kelechi Ajukwa (201-1995, college: Charlotte) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Al Ansar in the defeat.
